Disappointment Doesn't Have to Ruin Your Day

Disappointment often seems to come with a wide range
of emotions. It’s tempting to box them up and store them in
that section of your brain marked “DO NOT OPEN.” The
intent is usually to one day unpack the box, but the reality
is that the box often remains taped shut until one day the
contents explode.
God created you with feelings. Although our feelings
aren’t always reliable (you can take my word for that),
they are noteworthy. Acknowledge your feelings and give
yourself permission to experience them. It’s okay to be upset,
frustrated, or sad. Allow yourself to process these emotions
rather than suppressing them. Try to determine what’s behind
your feelings and emotions.
Maybe you’ve already noticed this, but in the middle of a
big disappointment, it’s easy to lose perspective. We turn our
eyes from Jesus to the broken dream. We focus on the setback
instead of the Savior. From our very limited point of view, it
seems as though God has forgotten us or is displeased with
us because things didn’t work out the way we wanted them
to or expected them to.
God knows what He’s doing. He is not cruel. He
is love (1 John 4:16). He doesn’t just love you; He is the
very embodiment of love. It’s a part of His character, who
He is. Love. Expert from My Roots Are Showing: The Twists and Turns of Tamar's Tale
In case no one has told you today, you are appreciated and loved. And now you know.
